At any given time, about 800 animals of more than 200 species make their homes at the Birmingham Zoo, including 80 species of birds, 80 species of reptiles, and 60 mammals.
That can only mean that you will get to have a great deal of fun checking out all of these amazing creatures that make our world truly colorful. If you live in Birmingham, you are lucky enough to be able to visit this zoo several times a year. If you are planning a vacation to Birmingham, Alabama make sure you plan a day or at least a few hours to spend there.
Each time you visit one of America’s Zoos you help to preserve some of the rarest animals on the planet. Without these zoos the world’s population of animals would soon be gone.
None of that matters to a child looking in and seeing a Great Ape for the first time, or getting a glance at a giant Elephant slowly walking by. It is never a disappointment when a king of the jungle yawns or roars and the kids get a good look at their huge teeth. This is what makes our lives truly special. Our time with them is very short, so make sure you get out and spend as much time with them as you can. To a child, the experience of being at the zoo and checking out all of the amazing animals there is magical. Make sure you take your camera and a little cash.
