Oxnard is a busy town on California's central coast. The city was founded in 1903 with the opening of a beet plant. As many different cultures quickly moved in to work in the plant, the types of agriculture expanded. In 1907, the first public library was built in the town plaza. While the plaza is no longer there, the building today is a county historical landmark and the only remaining structure from the plaza. Agriculture has remained the major industry, however electronic, aerospace, and other manufacturing industries have contributed to the growth of the area. The former Colonial House was a favorite haunt of movie stars in the 1940's and 50's. Pictures of Oxnard, California were taken by Brian Franklin |
