When you are visiting the Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks you are surely going to want to visit the Tarpon Springs Aquarium. You will be surprised on what this small aquarium has to offer.

You can expect to see a 120,000 gallon reef tank that is home to more than 30 species of fish, including stingray, tarpon, and a goliath grouper weighing nearly 200 lbs. Their tank is also home to a variety of sharks, such as Nurse Sharks and Bonnethead Sharks (a member of the Hammer Head family).

The aquarium is also home to eels, lobsters, octopus, seahorses, live coral, anemones, clown fish, and a large python. There are additional aquariums and a number of exhibits to explore and learn from at the Tarpon Springs Aquarium.

Don't forget to check out the live feeding shows. They take place four times daily (11:30am, 1:00pm, 2:30pm, and 4:00pm) During this entertaining and educational demonstration, a trained scuba diver enters the main aquarium and hand feeds its inhabitants. This 30-minute show is narrated, and the audience is free to ask questions throughout.

The Tarpon Springs Aquarium has an entire wing dedicated to a "hands-on" educational experience for our visitors. Our Stingray and Shark room houses two large tanks, where our guests can safely pet and feed a variety of species of rays and sharks. Their tidal pool touch tank allows visitors to touch local invertebrates, such as sea stars, urchins, hermit crabs, and snails.

With advance arrangements, a trained staff member will happily give your group a tour, which includes a dive show, alligator demonstration, shake demonstration, and the opportunity to feed and pet the stingrays, sharks, and touch the tidal pool animals. Additional dive shows may be scheduled Monday through Friday to accommodate large groups.
