Location of the Virginia Aquarium The Virginia Aquarium Your visit to the aquarium starts outside with the Harbor Seals tank. Watch them swim and play. Then enter into the building and prepare for lots of fun. There are several fun learning activities for the kids. Learn about the marine environment and how to preserve it. there are several educational programs available as well for all ages. While in the aquarium, see the sea life of the Chesapeake Bay area and the Atlantic Ocean. See the endangered Sea Turtles in their 70,000 gallon aquarium. The 300,000 gallon aquarium is home to sharks, stingrays, and several other large fish of the ocean. There are three different touch tanks the kids will enjoy. The staff can teach you about the different things here. There are stingrays, sea stars, horseshoe crabs, and sea urchins just to mention a few of the creatures to feel and learn about. Take the nature walk out to the marsh pavilion and see otters, sea horses, snakes and other creatures of the marsh. It is only a short 10 to 15 minute stroll along the nature walk and is easy for all ages. After all your fun in the aquarium, take in a movie at the IMAX. KAT'S VIEW The aquarium was really nice. They had touch tanks, one with stingrays in it. They felt like jelly on your had. Another touch tank had thing from a coral reef in it. There were tanks with jelly fish in them, and a tank with at least six sharks that were swimming around and two nurse sharks. |
