Location of Hollywood Cemetery Hollywood Cemetery No trip to Richmond would be complete without a drive through the historic Hollywood Cemetery. Overlooking the James River, this historic cemetery was established in 1847. There have been many historically prominent people buried here. You will find two United States Presidents, James Monroe and John Tyler, and the President of the Confederate States of America, Jefferson Davis. There have been six governors of Virginia buried here. It is also the final resting place of General George E. Pickett and many Confederate soldiers that fought by his side and died in battle. There are several beautiful statues to honor families loved ones. You will want to take time to reflect and remember your own loved ones past and present while you visit here. KAT'S VIEW Two presidents were buried here. James Monroe and his wife and John Tyler. John Tyler's was the really big one. The ironworks there were really cool. They had some that looked like the trees that swallow up children in nightmares. There was a really cool crypt that belongs to Lewis Ginter there too. |
