San Luis Obispo is one of California's oldest communities. It started as one of the original missions in 1772 and incorporated as a city in 1856. It is located at the junction of Highway 1 and Highway 101. the city's unique blend of history, culture, entertainment and commerce make this downtown one of the most attractive, interesting and economically vibrant downtowns in America. Mission Plaza is located on a beautiful site beside a creek and the restored mission. This is the heart of downtown.
