Sparks was established in 1904 as the home of the Southern Pacific Railroad in western Nevada. Since then, it has grown from a quiet railroad town into a busy resort center like its neighbor, Reno. Sparks hosts two of the area's biggest events: the premier Cinco de Mayo celebration in the region and the annual Best in the West Rib Cook-off which attracts rib lovers from all over during the Labor Day weekend. Sparks features several quality resort-hotels that offer 'round the clock gaming, fine dining and headliner entertainment. |
