Columbia is a nice blend of the new and the old co-existing together to create a nice downtown area. Although Sherman and his troops burned down and destroyed most of the city during the Civil War, the people here have been very resilient and rebuilt this wonderful town. Renovation of some wonderful 19th century buildings stand alongside new high-rises. The capital of South Carolina, Columbia has a diversity that gives visitors a wide variety of activities to choose from. Visit historic houses and see what life was like before the Civil War. There are museums that will delight both young and old and everyone in between. There are plenty of outdoor activities and a top rated zoo. There are many events happening throughout the year that offer some great entertainment. You can be assured to enjoy a visit here. |
