Hoquiam, like its neighbor Aberdeen, was built in the 1880's during a surge in the logging industry. The town's rich cultural heritage can be seen by exploring the city or stopping at the Polson Museum. One of the biggest attractions in the area, aside from the sandy beaches nearby, is the Bowerman Basin Refuge, the newest bird refuge in the Nation. Thousands of birdwatchers each year flock to see the 1-2 million migrating birds that stop in the area. |
