Pinedale is a small mountain town along Highway 191 in Eastern Wyoming. During the 19th century, the surrounding Green River Valley served as a meeting point for several rendezvous' of the Rocky Mountain Fur Trade. Today, Pinedale is still a base camp for outdoor adventures. The Green River and Wind River Mountains provide endless recreational opportunities. The town is known for its great hiking, climbing, fishing and hunting. The second largest natural lake in Wyoming, Fremont Lake, is just 4 miles from town and provides great boating and a chance to catch huge lake trout. The Museum of the Mountain Man in town features displays and special programs to show the lives of mountain men in the area and some of the equipment and tools they used.
