Location of Norfolk Botanical Garden Norfolk Botanical Garden The Norfolk Botanical Garden has 12 miles of paths through over 20 themed gardens. You can walk through at your own leisurely pace or jump on one of the trams. You can also enjoy a nice boat ride through the garden. Which ever way you prefer to go, you can be sure to enjoy the 155 beautiful acres. The garden features one of the largest collections of roses, azaleas, rhododendrons, and camellias on the East Coast. See just about every rose variety you can imagine, from very small (about the size of a quarter) to the very large (softball size) blooms. See the azaleas and rhododendrons in the wonderful array of colors and varieties displayed. From the Renaissance Court to the Virginia Native Plant Garden, the beautiful landscaping and arrangements offer various presentations for your enjoyment. There are many open areas that are great for weddings. (There were five weddings planned for the day we were there.) Along with the beautiful flowers and plants there are also various birds that you can see. It was spring we were here and we saw several baby geese and ducks. Start your visit at the visitor center and they can direct you to the areas that have the best bloom at the time of your visit. KAT'S VIEW The gardens were beautiful. They had a bunch of turtles and cute ducks there. The cutest things were the baby geese. The youngest ones were yellow, and the slightly older ones had brownish-gray feathers. They were very, very cute! My favorite flowers there were at the entrance/exit with a bunch of pretty colors in them. They were called "4th of July Rose". |
