Location of Castleman's River Bridge

Castleman's River Bridge
Grantsville, Maryland

Castleman's River Bridge was erected in 1813 by David Shriver, Jr., the superintendent of the "Cumberland Road" (also known as the National Road). This 80 foot span was the largest stone arch in America at the time it was built. It was continuously used from 1813 to 1933. Today it has a small park surrounding it where you can enjoy a nice picnic.

Pictures of Castleman's River Bridge were taken by Darryl Franklin
