Location of Basket Weaver Hale Farm and Village Housed in the Hale Family Carriage Barn, that was built in 1860, is the Basket Shop. As boxes and bags are used today, baskets had many uses in the 19th century. Hale Farm and Village Basket makers demonstrate how the rings of a tree are woven into a much-needed container used for storage, trade, and commerce. The Basket makers uphold the Shaker tradition of using molds to craft bushel, market, deacon baskets and more. |
