Location of the Saltbox House Hale Farm and Village Home of the Lane Family. Named for its architectural style, the Saltbox House was built in 1830 in nearby Richfield, Ohio and acquired in 1962. Today, you may find Mrs. Lane busy at the kitchen hearth. Mr. Lane may be in his orchards or at work for a local wagon maker. The outbreak of the war finds Lane sons, Bert and Pete, talking of nothing but the "Rebellion." Bert will be a soldier before the year is out. As for Pete... |
