Magnolia Plantation has been owned by eleven generations of Drayton's starting back in 1676. A tour of the main house shows the history of this family and that of Charleston Plantation life. The house showcases one of the Southeast's finest collection of Early American antiques, porcelain, quilts, and other heirlooms. The Plantation was also important to the Revolutionary War and the Civil War. See how one Drayton brother fought against another in the Civil War.

There have been three houses here. The first one burned down in 1811. The second was immediately built using the first floor brick from the first house. This second house was burned by Sherman's troops in the Civil War. The third and present house was built in 1865, again using the burned out first floor and steps of the second house. It has been modified a couple times, the last in 1995, resurrecting its previous Greek Revival appearance that had existed 100 years before.

KAT'S VIEW

The Magnolia Plantation house was very nice. I liked the children's room. Plus the dining room glasses. They were cool. The porch was huge and scattered with chairs that were comfortable to relax in.  Especially after walking the gardens.
