Location of Colonial Williamsburg Carpenter Colonial Williamsburg The Carpenters were working on reconstructing on of the buildings. You could watch them as they made their shingles for the roof and planed the wood for the walls. It was a lot of work to get the wood made into usable pieces back in the 1700's. Not like today where you just go to the lumber yard. Stop by to watch them work. Ask the craftsmen any questions you have about how this work was done in colonial times. KAT'S VIEW The carpenter was working on a building. He was almost half-way finished. At the time he was sanding wood. The building looked a little low for a 6'2" person. But the average height back then was only around 5' tall! |
