Colonial Williamsburg

The silversmith was quite talented.  They have some very beautiful pieces here. See how each of these beautifully intricate pieces are made. See how the spout is made for a pitcher or how spoons are formed. These people are true artists. It is so hard to believe how this beautiful silver was made with the simple tools of the 18th century. The silversmith would have been very busy here with all the influential people that lived here and those that were in government that had town homes here. The quality of your silver was definitely a sign of your importance and wealth.

KAT'S VIEW

A silversmith is kind of like a blacksmith except they use delicate silver. They made cups, kettles, jewelry and silverware. There was some really nice stuff. They have a shop they sell some of the silver in next door.
