Location of Garthright House Garthright House Garthright House is located across the road from the Cold Harbor National Cemetery. During the 1864 Overland Campaign it served as a Union field hospital during the Battle of Cold Harbor. Afterwards, it became a Confederate hospital. The house which dates to the 1700's has been restored but is not open to the public. KAT'S VIEW The small house that was the field hospital was made out of both brick and wood. It seemed small to be a hospital but it was. I wouldn't want to be a patient in that hospital especially if the person next to me was sick. Everyone would be so close. |
