A Roswell local named W.W. “Mack” Brazel was riding through his neighbors pasture with his son when he started to notice strange pieces of metal that appeared to be the debris of some sort of machine. He also noticed that the debris was scattered around a deep, long trench that was dug into the ground.

Brazel took a piece of the strange metal to his neighbors Floyd and Loretta Procter who claimed that they had never seen anything like it before. Floyd and Loretta told Brazel to report the incident to Sheriff George Wilcox.

Sheriff George Wilcox then reported the strange metal to Intelligence Officer Major Jesse Marcel. By now, the site was closed off and the metal was prepared to be cleared away. On July 8, information that a UFO had crashed in New Mexico had been accidentally released to the press. As you can imagine, this did not sit to well with the Government. The next day, information was released that wreckage from a crashed weather balloon had been mistaken for a flying saucer.

Back in Roswell, a local mortician, Glenn Dennis, received several strange phone calls, asking how to preserve a body using chemicals without damaging skin tissue. He went down to the Base Hospital (where the phone calls had come from) to see what their issue was. While he was talking with a nurse he knew, Dennis observed a military ambulance with a strange piece of unidentifiable metal sticking out of the back. He was then rushed out of the hospital by Military personnel.

The next day, Dennis was visited by the nurse who told him about strange inhuman bodies that were found. She drew them out on a prescription pad as well. A short while later, she was transferred to a hospital in England, her whereabouts are now unknown.

Major Jesse Marcel was sent to investigate Mack Brazel’s story in Roswell. Brazel and Marcel went to the crash site and studied the debris. One thing was certain, it certainly didn’t come from a weather balloon. Marcel filled his car with the debris and drove back to Fort Worth Army Air Field where he presented the debris to General Ramey.

Ramey wanted to see where the exact location of the crash had taken place, so leaving the debris in his office, he went down the hall to the map room and had Marcel show him were the supposed flying saucer had landed. When they got back to Ramey’s office, the wreckage was gone. In the UFO’s place was a torn up weather balloon.

Afterward, Government officials questioned Brazel who had completely changed his story. He said he found the wreckage on July 14, not the first week of July. He also said that he had found several weather balloons crashed in the fields on several other occasions.
