The Yellowstone River flows out of Yellowstone Lake and heads north, exiting Yellowstone near the park's north entrance. The river is one of the most popular fishing destinations in the park. Thousands of anglers each year test their luck and try to catch the strong-fighting cutthroat trout that are native to Yellowstone'slakes and streams. Aside from being a fisherman's paradise, the Yellowstone River also provides visitors with some of the parks' most beautiful scenery, including the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and several spectacular waterfalls.
