Location of J.C. Newman Cigar Company J.C. Newman Cigar Company The J.C. Newman Cigar Company was founded in Ybor City in 1954. This family owned business originally was founded in 1895 in Cleveland, Ohio. That was when J.C. Newman hand rolled his first cigar to supply the family grocer. He merged with another cigar company in 1921 and created M & N Cigar Manufacturers, Inc. and today, it is the countries oldest national cigar company that is still operated by the founding family.
