Tybee Museum is located at:
30 Meddin Dr.
Tybee Island, GA 31328
The Tybee Museum is located in Fort Screven, a 1898 costal artillery battery. It is a very appropriate location as Tybee Island has had much significance in the military history of the area, beginning with early Spanish explorers.
Many exhibits in the museum depict weapons from several different eras. Tybee has had a role defending America's coastline and in the Civil War. You can also learn about the early Spanish exploration, pirate activity, and early British settlement of the island.
See the development of Tybee between the 1870's to the 1940's which introduced resorts to the island. There was once huge resort hotels that had performances from famous as well as local musicians.
Tybee Island has been through many changes throughout the years and the museum has great displays showing this growth.
