The Idaho Military History Museum has been established for the purpose of "preservation, display and interpretation of military history and artifacts that have a geographical tie to the history of the people and state of Idaho". The Idaho Military History Museum was opened in 1995 by the Idaho Military Historical Society.

Via photos and artifacts, you will see Gowen Field as it was during World War II as well as Idahoans in the Philippine Insurrection through Desert Storm. A sizable collection of small arms is on display as are many of the guidons from units past, some of which have felt the breezes of distant lands and hark back to the early years of the century.

Our volunteer staff will be happy to help you with any questions that you may have about our displays.

We also have some of the manuals soldiers used from as far back as WWI which covered things like Drill & Ceremony (with horses) how to do PM (preventative maintenance) and a multitude of other things. We also received a donation from Parnassus Books of over 300 military history books and documents. If you are researching something on military history, our library is worth a visit.
