Location of American Civil War Museum American Civil War Museum The American civil War Museum takes you through the Civil War from the beginning events that led to the war to the end of the war and the assassination of President Lincoln, less than a week after Lee's surrender. The life-size figures and scenes do a wonderful job of illustrating the events of the Civil War. As you enter the museum, you are taken back in time to pre-civil war life as it was in the North and the South. See events that happened that led to the first shots being fired at Fort Sumter. Follow along and view many of the prominent events of the war. You will also see a scene from the underground railroad. The war culminates with General Lee's surrender. The scenes have all been carefully constructed and the museum offers an insight into the many aspects of the Civil War. From here you enter the Battleroom Auditorium where the three day Gettysburg battle is recreated with many figures and an audio-visual presentation. This is followed by President Lincoln's Gettysburg Address at the opening of the National Cemetery four months after the battle. KAT'S VIEW The American Civil War Museum was really cool. I liked it there. It had a thing on the underground railroad, which was not actually a railroad. It was a way to help slaves get their freedom. Sometimes they would hid in a cellar or in an attic. They had a thing on the Lincoln assassination, too. It happened right after the end of the war. |
