Location of Battlefield Military Museum

Battlefield Military Museum
900 Baltimore Pike
Gettysburg, Pennsylvania 17325
Voice: 717-334-6568

The Battlefield Military Museum houses Gettysburg's largest private collection of military artifacts. The Marino's have been long time collectors and have had this museum open for 45 years. You will see "true" artifacts from the Civil War to World War II. There are no reproductions here. There are many great items from swords, muskets, uniforms, helmets, and a wide variety of other military items. There is also perhaps the largest collection of military unit insignia pins in the world.

Some of the artifacts that you will see include actor Jimmie Stewart's World War II uniform, Major General Zook's sword, he was killed on the second day of the Battle of Gettysburg. A pair of General Custer's boots. Doctor Tate's medical kit, he was here during the battle and you will also see a picture of him. There are rare Indian Scout helmets from the Indian Wars. A homemade banjo that has printed on it "Dese men made; Dis Darkey free." And there is the World War II uniform of US Navy Vice-Admiral Andrew Jackson.

These are just a handful of the marvelous artifacts here. You will not want to miss a visit here during your tour of the National Parks of Gettysburg.

KAT'S VIEW

The museum had several interesting things. There was an experimental musket and a prosthetic leg. There was an old box for Hershey's candy bars back when they were five cents each. This is the place to see real weapons that were actually used in the war. There was lots of German stuff too from World War II.
