Location of Coast Guard Cutter Ingham Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum The historic Coast Guard Cutter joined the Patriots Point Fleet in 1989. The Ingham was one of the most decorated vessels in U.S. service with 18 ribbons during a career of over 50 years. Commissioned in 1936, the Ingham took part in 31 World War II convoys, six Pacific Patrols, and three Vietnam Tours. Awarded the Presidential Unit Citation for Vietnam service, the Ingham in 1942 sank German U-boat 626. Most recently the cutter tracked illegal boat immigrants and drug runners. KAT'S VIEW This was the fourth ship we toured today. I was getting pretty tired. The Ingham had two different kitchens, one for officers and one for the rest of the men. The officers had nicer rooms too. The Ingham is one of the smaller ships there. It's barely longer than the submarine here. It is 377 feet long. |
