Location of EdVenture Children's Museum EdVenture Children's Museum EdVenture Children's Museum is the South's largest and the 10th largest in the Nation. There are 67,000 square feet of learning and exploring and an additional 7,000 square feet of outdoor fun and learning. This museum was designed primarily for children 12 and younger. However, the adults will have a good time too. As you enter the museum you will meet Eddie, the world's largest child. He is 40 feet tall sitting down and weighs a mere 35,000 pounds. Climb the stirs behind Eddie and children of all ages can climb inside his body to experience the brain, heart, stomach and more. EdVenture has eight exhibit galleries and 350 hands-on exhibits. On the first floor is the Body Works where you explore the workings of the body. Play some virtual volleyball and check your breathing rate, play operation on a large, and find a skeleton in the closet. Of course this is just a few things to do here. Also on the first floor is the World of Work. Visit the grocery store and be the cashier or shop for your dinner. Go to the farm and gather eggs, pick the peaches, and milk the cow. Become a firefighter and ride on the fire engine. On the second floor you will find the small children's special area where toddlers and babies can explore in a safer area away form the "big" kids. The babies that are starting to roll and crawl will enjoy the totally padded in area they can explore. The toddlers can play and explore where mom can easily watch and play too. There is also Mission Imagination, Over The Horizon, Art Gallery, Exploration Workshop, and the Traveling Exhibits. Kids can create a newspaper, be a newscaster of weather person, make music, create a masterpiece, and much, much more. Lunchtime can be enjoyed in the Coke Clubhouse featuring food, through partnership, from McDonald's and Domino's Pizza. There are also vending machines available. KAT'S VIEW The EdVenture Children's Museum was very nice. I had a great time here. You could climb inside of a giant human named Eddie and learn about your body. Warning: If you have claustrophobia do not go inside. You can build your own dam by sliding boards into the slots and stop the water. You can climb a rope spider web. In the broadcast room you can do the news and the weather on the EdVenture T.V. broadcast. |
