The Chrysler Museum of Art is world renown for its many diverse and extensive collections. In March of 1971, the museum was renamed to Chrysler Museum and Walter Chrysler Jr. donated a substantial portion of his extensive art collection. This included thousands of paintings, sculptures, art objects, and an 8,000 piece glass collection. There is also a display that contains some of Chrysler's furniture in a setting with some if the paintings, statues and other objects that he donated. He continued donating pieces until his death in 1988.

The glass collection is beautiful. There are pieces for everyone's taste here. Stroll from room to room enjoying the current to ancient glassworks. From lamps and vases to stained glass pictures and many other objects, the workmanship is amazing. There were so many pieces I could not choose a favorite from here. They were all so beautiful I enjoyed the entire collection.

A couple of the pieces that I particularly liked include Chauncy Bradley Ives statue titles "Undine Receiving Her Soul". The amazing workmanship showing the fine material covering the woman's body is so lifelike. There were so many paintings I enjoyed it is hard to choose a favorite. One of them would have to be "The Daughters of Durand-Ruel" by Renoir. It is of two girls sitting on a bench in the summer. I really like the style he used.

I am sure you will enjoy a visit to this museum. It is a great place to immerse children into art as there are so many examples of style and of the different eras of the art world. The diversity of the collections have something for everyone of all ages to enjoy.
