Learn about the history of the town of Herndon in this museum that is located in the old train depot (circa 1850). The town was named for Commander William Lewis Herndon. The museum has information about who the man was and why they named the town after him.

The museum also houses artifacts from the area railroad and some of the industry in the area that relied on the railroad. There are also many artifacts that are on loan from area residents. There is vintage clothing and household items. There are quilts that townswomen made.

While this is a small museum, there are many interesting items to see. You learn a lot about the town and its history.

KAT'S VIEW

There were some interesting things here. There were some "Quality" hair pins made by "Goody." There was an old dollhouse with dollhouse accessories including a photo album. Another thing I like at the museum was a train station box office where they used to deliver the mail.
