Location of the Tug Boat Museum The Tug Boat Museum Step aboard a living piece of history. Built in 1933 by Newport News Shipyard Apprentices, the Tug Huntington assisted in docking and launching hundreds of aircraft carriers, submarines and passenger liners. A familiar sight in Norfolk’s Harbor for more than half a century, the Tug Huntington has been restored to her former glory. Explore the engine room for a view of her massive power plant. Catch a glimpse of tugboat life as you visit the crew’s quarters, galley and saloon. Then make your way topside to the captain’s quarters and wheelhouse. Throughout the vessel are photographs, exhibits and videos that bring to life the Huntington’s past as well as the history of tugs and the towing industry. The Huntington is docked on the downtown Norfolk waterfront. It is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day from 11am to 5pm. |
