The Virginia Holocaust Museum is a place everyone should visit and never forget. It is a moving tribute to the 6 million who were exterminated and to those who survived. The horror cannot be described. This is something you must experience to understand and this museum opens your mind to all that happened.

The museum tells the story of co-founder Jay Ipson's family, who were Holocaust survivors. He was only six years old when in 1941 he went into he Kovno Ghetto. Follow his journey to escape and hide from the Nazis. Put yourself in his place as you crawl through the tunnel that saved his life and imagine how it would have been to live in a hole underground for six months. This is but one of the experiences you will find here.

The exhibits will take you from the beginning of the persecution in the early 1930's through World War II and afterwards. It is horrifying to learn what happened when these Jewish prisoners who had endured such deplorable conditions and died horrific deaths. That their rescuers would move them into camps that were no better than what they had rescued them from. What happened after the war is not something you read about in the history books.

We must not let this happen anymore. We must never forget. The human race must strive to put an end to genocide throughout the world.
