Location of the Belle Boyd House The Belle Boyd House The Belle Boyd House was built in 1853 by Benjamin Reed Boyd, father of Belle Boyd, the Civil War spy. There is an eleven room museum housed in the building: three rooms for the Civil War, one room for WWII, a War room housing the other Wars of interest (i.e. Revolutionary, Spanish/American, WWI), the Belle Boyd/Martinsburg room, a room of clothing from 1860-1920, the toy room, and Hack Wilson’s baseball room. Hack lived in Martinsburg and is buried here. He is listed in the Hall of Fame. The final two rooms are the main ballroom furnished much like it would be when Belle Boyd occupied the residence and a room displaying various archeological finds from the county. There is also a rose garden of 160 roses and a large herb garden. It is open April 15th to Christmas, six days a week, 10-4, closed on Wed., 1-4 on Sun. |
