Victory Center

Welcome to the encampment of General George Washington and his troops. This is a replica of how the troops lived while they were here in Yorktown.  Costumed interpreters are here to answer your questions and give exhibitions on different aspects of camp life. View the Commander's tent.  Go into the small tents the soldiers lived in and experience how it would have been. Everything is hands-on. Feel free to explore and learn.  Check out the doctor's quarters. All the bottles of natural remedies and instruments that the physicians used.  No pills and syringes here.

Wander over for some chow. See how trenches were dug and holes were tunneled into the earth to create the fire pits. Check out how the heat would rise through the hole on top and heat the pots to cook the food. Rice and fish were mainstays.

Imagine yourself camped here preparing for the final battle. Thank all our ancestors who fought here and brought freedom for a new nation.
