Location of Willow Creek Willow Creek The Willow Creek Slide is an historic site along I-90 in northern Idaho. On February 10, 1903, a huge avalanche swept away part of a 300 foot tall trestle that allowed Northern Pacific Railway trains to descend from the pass. One engine plunged 80 feet and was buried in 30 feet of snow. A passenger car dangled over the open space and a caboose with 8 people in it dropped into a deep snowbank. Miraculously, everyone survived. |
