Wollman Rink offers fun for all seasons, providing 26,600 square feet of ice for skaters in the winter and pedal boats on the Lake in the summer. Although not a part of the original plan for Prospect Park, the Rink, built in 1960, has added a big dose of winter fun for thousands of ice skaters, in addition to serving as home turf for the Brooklyn Blades amateur men's and women's ice hockey teams.

The Prospect Park Audubon Center at the Boathouse is a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to wildlife preservation and natural education, located inside an Historic New York City Landmark. Surrounded by interpretive nature trails in acres of carefully restored natural habitat, the Audubon Center also houses the Park's Visitor Center, with an information desk, a cafe and a gift shop.

Grand Army Plaza provides the grandest of park entryways in New York City's answer to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. Although many may know this as the busiest intersection in Brooklyn, if you take a closer look you'll find an art gallery inside the 80-foot arch, and a majestic overview of the Park and Manhattan. Conceived as a memorial to the defenders of the Union in the Civil War, the elaborately carved Arch is also a base for a series of inspired bronze sculpture groupings that soar over the Plaza. On the ground, bold statues of historical figures including President John F. Kennedy, and the mythical tableau atop the famous Bailey Fountain surround the massive arch.

The Plaza is also the site of the 2nd largest open air Green Market in New York City. Every Saturday, you'll find over 600 varieties of farm-fresh fruits, vegetables, baked goods, dairy products and more.

The Carousel is a great place to take kids on an old-fashioned ride back in time to the golden age of carnival excitement, right in Brooklyn's landmark Prospect Park. The Carousel is also a popular place to hold birthday parties, complete with food and party favors in a scenic, kid-friendly setting. Located in what is widely known as the Park's "Children's Corner," the Carousel features 51 magnificently carved horses, a lion, a giraffe, a deer and two dragon-pulled chariots. Carved in 1912 by Charles Carmel, one of the foremost carousel designers of the time, and restored by the Prospect Park Alliance in 1990, the Carousel promises that classic summertime amusement is available for continuing generations of fun. In addition, the Prospect Park Carousel is one of the few in the world that is wheelchair accessible.

The Nethermead is a rolling meadow located near the center of Prospect Park and a popular destination for dog-walkers, Frisbee players and large gatherings. Park-goers are often surprised to emerge upon this remote clearing as they are exploring nearby Park attractions, such as the Ravine and the Music Pagoda. Surrounded on all sides by water and green hills, the Nethermead gives the impression of being deep in the forest.

Enclosing the Nethermead are some of the oldest trees in the Park, along with mature lindens, sweetgums and young cherry trees. Animal lovers are especially attracted to the Nethermead; bird-watchers find the mix of trees perfectly suited to spotting native and migratory birds, while dog-walkers appreciate the most generous off-leash hours of anywhere in the Park. The Nethermead also hosts the annual Halloween Haunted Walk and Carnival, among other special events.

The restored Ravine is at the heart of Prospect Park's natural features. The area is defined by a steep narrow gorge lined with the diverse trees and foliage of Brooklyn's only forest. The Ravine district features the Park's most rugged terrain and the cool whisper of flowing water is never far away.

Still recovering from decades of overuse that caused soil compaction and erosion, the Ravine and surrounding woodlands have been undergoing successful restorations since 1996. The Prospect Park Alliance's Woodlands Campaign and the on-going restorations of the watercourse and the Park's natural areas have preserved this treasure for a new generation of Park users.
