Location of Olympic National Park

Olympic National Park
600 East Park Avenue
Port Angeles, Washington 98362
Visitor Center: 360-565-3130

Olympic National Park encompasses a variety of climate conditions from the beaches to the rainforest to the mountains. There are several entrance points and a great deal to see and do.

Olympic National Park has a wide variety to offer. From more than 60 miles of Pacific Ocean coastline to the glaciers of the Olympic Mountains there is much to enjoy.

For the ocean lovers, there are great beaches to explore. Find beautiful stretches of sand, arches and sea stacks, and tidepools with various sea life. The coastline has remained little changed by man, only by the impact of the pounding of surf and storms.

The forest abounds in the park. There are four basic types of forest on the Olympic peninsula: temperate rain forest, lowland, montane, and subalpine. Enjoy North America's finest temperate rain forest in the valleys of the Quinault, Queets, and the Hoh rivers that are protected and contain some of the most spectacular examples of the Sitka spruce. Short hikes will lead you to wonderful waterfalls. The Marymere Falls to the north near Lake Crescent. The Sol Duc Falls are an easy hike that is definitely worth the effort. These falls are near the Sol Duc Hot Springs.

While not very high, the Olympic Mountains are a sight to see. Mount Olympus is the tallest at just under 8,000 feet. Surrounded by water on three sides and crowned by alpine glaciers, the Olympic Mountains retain the distinctive character that developed from their isolation. Several plants and animals are unique to the Olympics and they include the Olympic marmot, Flett's violet, Piper's bellflower, Olympic Mountain synthyris, Olympic chipmunk, Olympic snow mole, and the Beardslee and Crescenti trout.

A place of great natural beauty, the Olympic National Park is a destination for all wilderness lovers.
