One of the largest urban zoos in the country, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is located on 168 rolling wooded acres, just 5 minutes from downtown Cleveland. The Zoo is home to the largest collection of primate species in North America, including lemurs, apes and monkeys. Thousands of animals representing more than 600 species enjoy a variety of indoor and outdoor facilities.
The Zoo's roots can be traced back to 1882, making it one of the oldest Zoo's in the country. The Zoo has built upon its history and added new exhibits in recent years. The entrance to Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and The Rain Forest is located at 3900 Wildlife Way, minutes from downtown and easily accessible from Interstates 90, 71 and 480. Accessible to all people are rest, picnic and play areas and an ATM. Complimentary Zoo Trams operate daily, weather permitting. There are also convenient food services and gift shops.
