Location of Knoxville Zoo Knoxville Zoo Minutes from downtown Knoxville off Interstate 40 at the Knoxville Zoo Drive/Rutledge Pike Exit 392. Now is a great time to discover the wonders of the natural world at Knoxville Zoo. The zoo has more than 800 animals and is internationally renowned for its preservation and breeding programs. Bringing the animals of Africa to one location, Grasslands Africa! is home to giraffe, kudu, gazelles, waterbuck, zebra, eland and various species of birds. Also visit the earth’s largest land mammals at Stokely African Elephant Preserve. Explore the zoo’s other premier natural exhibits – Meerkat Lookout, Black Bear Falls, Chimp Ridge, Gorilla Valley, River Otters and more. 2004 Opening: Knoxville Zoo's newest addition, Kids Cove, is opening in 2004. Kids can play on a playground, slide through a waterfall, climb into a giant birds nest, and interact with Kids Zoo animals while exploring cabins, vegetable gardens and play spaces. |
