The Virginia Zoo is a large area filled with animals and gardens. A favorite of children and adults too is the Okavango Delta where you can view giraffes, the white rhino, zebras, elephants, antelope, ostriches, and lions. In the Toudilo Hills exhibits along the side of the delta you can see several small animals, reptiles, and birds.

The little ones will especially enjoy feeding the ducks and geese at the Waterfowl Pond. Be sure to bring a quarter to get some food to feed them.

You can also see tigers, white-tailed deer, llamas, and emus. They are all in their separate pens. You can also see Red Rover hogs and baboons.

Enter into the Reptiles and Nocturnal habitats building and you can view various snakes (not my favorite, but my daughter loves them), frogs, and lizards. The kids just seem to love seeing all these creepy things! In the nocturnal side it is kept dark with very minimum light, just enough to view the animals after your eyes adjust.  Best not take in little ones afraid of the dark. In here you will find an ocelot and some porcupines as well as some other animals that come out at night.

On your trip to the zoo, be sure to plan time to enjoy the gardens as well as the animals.  And if you get hungry, there is the African Village Restaurant and the Beastro for a nice lunch.
