As the nation’s first stand-alone non-profit insect zoo, the Butterfly Pavilion is the ideal place to see and interact with exotic live invertebrates from around the globe. It’s where science, fun and education come together. Wings over the Tropics Explore our lush tropical conservatory, home to more than 1,200 live butterflies from around the world. Witness butterflies emerging from their chrysalides and join in releasing them into the rainforest. Check out the Crawl-A-See-Em. Get eye-to-eye with tarantulas, leaf insects, scorpions, beetles, giants millipedes, and many more. Try the petting tank at the Water’s Edge ! Touch live sea stars and other aquatic invertebrates from the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. Shrunk! Experience this eye-popping new exhibit with giant animatronic insects that actually move!
