Old Colorado City Colorado

Old Colorado City was founded to supply the gold rush in 1859. The hopes were that with all of the people flooding in to the gold fields the founders hoped they would profit from the workers. The city was used by more then just the gold prospectors.

With every gold rush city it brought many of the types of businesses that thrived from instant riches, such as gambling, drinking and prostitution.

Today the gold fields are still there but not as they were in the mid 1800's. Yes, you still can find gold in the area. But the real testament to the men and women of the gold rush are their decedents. Some of them are still around the State of Colorado.

With each gold rush it panned out, and the rush to the next one began. As with any city it too loses most of the people. They follow the prospectors and head off to prey on the next prospectors riches.

Today Old Colorado City has been transformed in to a tourist destination. It has some nice shops that you can find a souvenirs for your friends and family.
