Location of Flathead Lake Flathead Lake Flathead Lake in northwest Montana is the largest natural freshwater lake west of the Mississippi River at 28 miles long and up to 15 miles wide. Thousands of people flock to the lake each year for fishing and fun on the water. Fisherman spend their days chasing trophy-sized trout, yellow perch and whitefish. The lake and its islands are home to hundreds of species of birds and wildlife including 75bird species, deer, bighorn sheep, coyotes, mink and black bear. |
