For the ultimate in family entertainment visit Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. This theme park offers an abundance of entertain-ment. But it is more than just roller coasters, it is also a premier zoo and restaurants, shops, and games. The park has nine themed areas.

The park began its existence as a bird sanctuary adjacent to the Anheuser-Busch Brewery. In 1965, the 65-acre Serengeti Plain was opened. This was the country's first habitat for free-roaming herds of animals. The Monorail Safari opened in the late 1960's and offered eye-level views of the Serengeti's exotic wildlife. In the 1970's the African-themed park added their first thrill rides. The first two were the Stanley Falls Log Flume and the Python roller coaster. In the 1980's Busch Gardens was refining the combination of animals and exciting entertainment. They added new thrill seekers such as the Scorpion roller coaster and the Phoenix and Congo River Rapids. In the 1990's they established themselves as a leader in the theme park industry. They added more state-of-the-art attractions as well as more up close animal encounters. They also opened Land of the Dragons which is a four-acre children's play area.

Today, the park continues to offer new and exciting entertainment. They have added a 26-acre white rhinoceros habitat. The Rhino Rally is a safari and thrilling river adventure ride with intense off-road experiences with some of Africa's most majestic animals aboard a free-driving Land Rover. The newest attraction to open is R.L. Stine's Haunted Lighthouse 4-D adventure film. It is based on an original story written by the famous Goosebumps author. This spooky, state-of-the-art multi-sensory theater creates an exciting experience for the whole family.

Adventure Island is a 30-acre water park with more than a dozen water rides, slides, and attractions. Wahoo Run catapults the riders on a raft through more than 600 feet of twisting tunnels and waterfalls. Splash Attack features a 1,000 gallon wooden bucket that empties on unsuspecting guests. It also has a huge tree house with more than 50 water elements for lots of family participation. Key West Rapids is a 700-foot twisting slide that ends with a giant splash. Then there is the 17,000-square foot Endless Surf wavepool. And these are just a few of the feature to keep the family entertained all day.

This is definitely a great vacation destination. You will want to plan more than just one day to enjoy all there is to offer the whole family.
