The history of Gulfport dates back to 1868 with the first settles into the area. Many settlers came from England, the Bahamas, and Virginia as well as many other places. They were mostly farmers and seamen. The Gulfport Historical Museum showcases articles of these early settlers.

The first school was opened in1886 with a gentleman from England being the first teacher.  See the rules for being a teacher. You too can get a 25 cent raise after five years if you maintain a respectable lifestyle!

See an authentic baseball glove from the 1800's that was owned by one of the early settlers.

See the dollhouse that was built by the by a lady for her grand-daughter. The family donated it when she passed away. The intricate designs will amaze you. Family snapshots were used to create the pictures in the house. Old wrist watches were used to create the clocks. Can you see all the other items used in such creative ways?

There are old ration books from the war, kitchen gadgets, musical instruments, radios and typewriters, and so much more here. There are just too many different items to be seen in this museum to name them all.
