The town of Palm Harbor occupies 33 square miles in North Central Pinellas County just North of Clearwater. The first settlers to the Palm Harbor area came here as early as 1860. Early settlers were attracted by the year-round warm weather which makes the area conducive to farming, citrus groves and fishing. During the period between 1864 and 1925, Palm Harbor went through three names and was described as a pioneer town, a farming center, a developer's dream, a resort town and a college town. Palm Harbor's heritage can still be seen by strolling down Florida Avenue through Historic Downtown where many of the early buildings still stand. |
