The University of Georgia Marine Education Center and Aquarium has many educational opportunities for all ages. Begin with a visit to the aquarium. It is a bit of a drive but well worth it. The aquarium has many saltwater exhibits showing a variety of sea life that can be found along the Georgia coastline.

Continue on into the museum area and you will find a collection of artifacts portraying the lifestyle and culture of the local natives from a thousand years ago. There are also fossils of prehistoric animals collected from Skidaway Island and Skidaway River.

If you are interested in further education and experiences, there are programs for all from Pre-K to Adult. There are many programs for school children. Pre-K to 4th Grade features programs centered in the aquarium. For older students and adults there are a wide variety of Presentation/Discussion programs and there are also Laboratory experiences and field studies. For the ultimate experience join in a study on their R/V Sea Dawg (a 43 foot Trawler).

So plan a trip to the Marine Science Center and Aquarium for the time of your life.

KAT'S VIEW

The Marine Education Center and Aquarium was so cool! They had a shark. They had sea urchins. They had a HUGE lobster. I mean HUGE! When we first saw it mom's first impression was "Get the pot".

I loved the Aquarium. They had catfish and spade fish (fish that look like spades). I had a great time.
