If you are planning a trip to Maui you will find yourself in historical Lahaina, this is home to many historical buildings and museums. It is also the home of Lahaina Harbor it was once the home of 500 whaling ships. Maui was a much different place than it is today. The sailors caused many problems and the social breakdown began.
This is when Dr. and Rev Dwight Baldwin and his new bride was sent to help. He spent a great deal of his time going from one island to another healing the sick and injured. He and his wife raised six children and worked to help the people that lived and visited this island paradise.
Today you can walk through their home and try to picture what it would have been like to have lived in this house as the sick and injured would visit.
The Baldwin Home is one of Maui's treasured places and it well worth the time that it will take you to walk through it. Your family will learn about the history of Maui and take a little of it home with them.
