Wo Hing Museum
If you are planning a trip to the beautiful Island of Maui you will find yourself in the historical town of Lahaina. As you walk around this historical city you will come across the Wo Hing Museum. This is the heart and soul of the Chinese community. It was created by the first Chinese to come to Maui along with the rest of the whalers.
As you drive across the island you will see some of their work still standing today. They helped to build many of the bridges and other infrastructure of Maui.
Maui has a rich Chinese heritage and it is displayed here at Wo Hing Museum. Throughout the years many historical people helped to make Maui what it is today. Dr. Sun Yat-sen, renowned as the Father of Modern China, and first provisional president of the Republic of China, lived here for six years and had a great influence on the island. The museum holds the history of his family in the islands as well as many artifacts of Dr. Sun Yat-sen that were donated by his granddaughter who still lives in Hawaii.
Make sure you give yourself the time to check out this unique museum and learn a little about the people that helped make our nation one of the greatest in the world.
