Kansas is known as the Sunflower State. With a population of just over 2.5 million people, there are lots of wide open spaces. Kansas is known for its vast wheat fields spreading out as far as the eye can see. The history of the "old west" begins in Kansas, where buffalo herds were hunted to extinction. Lawmen Bat Masterson and Wild Bill Hickok walked the streets of the towns of Kansas.
