The primary activities of the museum is education through the use of art, music, films, storytelling and celebration of diversity. On display is a world-class collection of spirit masks, bronze objects, clay vessels, textiles, ivory and bone materials some of them dates back to about 3000 years of history. The museum is the only institution of it's kind in Northern New England exclusively devoted to the preservation of Sub-Saharan African cultures and art.
